Hey
Im having great problems accessing the device manager on our firewall. We can get to the part where we put in the username and password but then it says that there is a certificate issue and the PDM will not load. Can someone tell me a way to get into the PDM. If it helps we are only on device manager 3.0 and we are wanting to upgrade it to the latest firmware but can even get in via hyperterminal
Help
Tim.

You could connect via the serial cable to the device itself? Are you using Hyperterminal via IP or serial though?

If you have a look at the attached, you will see that at the bottom, it says something about access denined. Is this a java issue???

Looks like a JAva Security setting/ cookie security denying access however that wouldn't explain the fact you can't hyperterminal into the box unless of course the user and pass for the box is different from the web front end which sadly is unlikely.

I read that you have to log into the PDM to see the bit settings as i think they have been changed.

I wonder what would happen if you did a factory reset? other than losing lots of setting that is? Have you a support contract or support line for this at all? Cisco are usually vey good?

Not surprising hardware reset only in case of device failing to work lol have you a backup of the devices settings or at least a printout just in case?

From Cisco
"We are facing this error because PIX Device Manager (PDM) version 3.0(2) is incompatible with Java Plug-in versions 1.4.2_08 and 1.5.0_02 or later. If these Java Plug-ins are used in conjunction with the impacted PDM releases, the application will not load. Changes made in the Java Plug-in 1.4.2_08 and 1.5.0_02 break the existing code loading functionality in PDM. Please refer to the release notes for PDM 3.0(2) for PC/Workstation Requirements.
http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/...2.htm#wp109844
From the above release notes, we can see that PDm 3.0(2) is supported but IE 6.0 with Java Plug-in 1.4.2.
There are two Workarounds for this issue:
1. Upgrade to PDM 3.0(4). Since we currently don't have any type of access to the PIX ( console, telnet, SSH...) then we can't upgrade the PDM version.
2. Downgrade to JAVA version 1.4.2. First you have to uninstall the Java version your machine is running and install JAVA version 1.4.2."
My next issue will be... i cant get into the console... why not!
