When i was sorting out these printers i made it explicitly clear that we are a primary school and print out a hell of a lot of photos.
They are saying they will come and put memory in one to test it out, at a cost which i hadnt planned for. Plus if they say to me one more time "we've got loads of these in schools and we've never had this problem before" im going to scream. We arent another school, we are THIS school now come and sort it out.
It's typical, the first lease i organise and its all going horribly wrong. Plus i get the feeling someone is waiting for me to crash and burn

Feel for you. My printers have been generally ok and the staff are quite forgiving now I've got the print times down for large photos, but accept that large files will take longer to print.
My biggest worry was when I took on the photocopier as part of the same contract as it just wouldn't work, and this copier is easily doing 60k / month copies! Yowchy. Thank fully the company I'm with (Total Digital Solutions - Digital Office Solutions and Document Management) have been amazing and sorted the issues out pretty darn quickly and didn't mind if I was calling them twice in a day with issues, they just got it sorted and now (turns out it was a faulty part, just a batch problem sadly) the staff love it because it will staple those lengthy reports for them.

31st January 2011, 12:15 PM #17 We had the exact same problem with the large A3 Kyocera printers we used to have; even after upgrading the memory. They were so rubbish in the end we just got rid of them. Sorry that doesn't really solve your problem though!

31st January 2011, 12:20 PM #18 Try changing the printers settings to print the pictures at a lower resolution, usually in the advanced section somewhere, don't know the Kyocera's.
Make sure you document all conversations you've had with the leasing company, especially if these are the printers they recommended to you as being suitable. You may have cause to argue that the equipment supplied is not fit for purpose and in breach on contract. You could then either get them to fix the problem at their expense, or cancel the contract and look elsewhere.

31st January 2011, 12:23 PM #19 I will Teejay, thanks.
I've started another thread to see how many other schools have had issues with them. I'm sure there are more out there then just Webman.

31st January 2011, 12:34 PM #20 It might also be worth bypassing your leasing company and speak to Kyocera directly (KYOCERA MITA Serviceworld - downloads, drivers, documentations, utilities | Home - print copy scan fax) to find out if they have any solutions to the problem or if the printers are incapable of doing what you need. If Kyocera come up with a solution, then get the school to bill the support company for your time or knock it off the next invoice as they haven't provided the support you are paying for. If Kyocera deem the printers to be incapable of doing what you need, get it in writing off Kyocera and go back to the leasing comapny for either replacing the printers with the appropriate printers at their cost, or cancelling the agreement.

31st January 2011, 12:44 PM #21 I had a problem this morning and with a printer printing out half a page only !! I set the PC to start printing after last page is spooled and turned off advanced printing features ... That sorted it ... maybe you could try that !!

31st January 2011, 03:02 PM #24 Yes! But now cant find the member of staff again, to see what she did!
I've just tried to print some large files and got the same issue. All i can think is that they've come off a camera where the quality was low thus not being a huge file...

Do you have any kind of print logs with which you could find out the sizes of jobs that are failing and jobs that are going through and see if there is any comparison?
