    jetdirect problem

HP Colour laserjet 3550 with HP jetdirect en3700.

Has worked fine(ish) for years. No workstations now able to print to it. I tried to run setup again on the server but setup program unable to find printer now. Tried to print out settings from jetdirect but printer reports "chosen personality not available".

Printer works fine when connected directly to a workstation so not a driver problem which is the only googled solution I could find.

I suspect jetdirect box is knackered but at a replacement cost approaching £200 want to be sure.

    Anyone any blazing insights??

    Re: jetdirect problem

Contact Making It Green and seeing if they have any EN3700s left, we got ten for £300 not so long ago from them

Aside from that, does the JD box respond to ping, can WebJetAdmin still see it, does the web interface still work?

    Re: jetdirect problem

go to the hp site and get the jet direct manager ( or management ) something like that, and do a firmware update on the jetdirect.

see if that helps any, might be worth while reading the documentation before you run the firmware update because obviously if it goes tits up, it will kill the jet direct

Nope, cannot ping etc. but it's possible the IP address has been changed. I cannot check that since the test button on the back that gives you the settings printout gives the "chosen personality not available" response!

djm968 .......... saw that on google but it refers to driver problem as solution.

gecko ......... cannot update as I cannot access the jetdirect box. Download manager cannot find it, I cannot even ping it at it's last known IP address.

Think a new one is looking more and more likely!
