I looked at blades for a job I did for a business and I decided they were not worth it really.
You can get some nice 2U HP DL380s they take 6 hard drives so are ace and allow more expansion than a 1U chasis. The new DL380 G5 Server takes about 8 or so drives as they are the new SAS drives so plenty of scope there, and they are on offer this month with Insight as well, free double memory with HP and cheap servers from Insight, bargin of the month really, shame I aint got space for anymore...

But i want blades. :supz: They're so geekish. I understand what you are saying about the storage, but they probably wouldnt be used for too much storage anyway.
Lots more to consider.

blade servers are never used as storage solutions! but one of the great things is that fibre switch modules and fibre connectors for blades are significantly cheaper than standalone - therefor when you hook up your blade centre to your fibre channel SAN you save cash.
