    Temp of Core i3 - 550

    just fitted a i3 in to a new pc and the temp in the bios is running at 45*c

    Is this right or have i done something wrong

    A quick Google seems to suggest that an i3 should run at around 40c idle, and around 50c with a few programs, so this sounds pretty normal to me.

    ah cheers. just noticed that the fan rpm just jumpped up a 100rpm. and brought the temp back down to 45*c

    i'll leave it running like that for abit and see what happends.

    Which heatsink/fan are you using? Relative to the massive tower heatsinks from Noctua, Thermalright and Prolima, the Intel HSF is not that good. You can easily lower your load temps by > 10°C by using a good third-party heatsink/fan.
