Blackberry v PDA (?)

My Head has asked that I get her a Blackberry ASAP as she's off to the UAE for a conference or something. Now, she's specificly asked for a Blackberry but I think she may just mean a decent PDA or similar.

Does anyone use a Blackberry, which type is the best and where can I get one? Our usual suppliers don't seem to keep them.

I prefer PDA's but having a blackberry is all about bragging rights, which is what teachers are usually concerned about!

personally i'd have a pda any day but I would suggest you find out how much support they want for which ever device. the Blackberry is a single app device and so take a lot less tech support it also has better conectivity unless you get a smart phone. If they have a school mobile they could alway upgrade to one of them....

i thought a blackberry was a PDA with a phone in it, if she wants the convienience of only carrying one device, then fine.

My XDA2 is a phone, pda and blackberry all in one, to add the blackberry you have to update to the latest version of the software from the O2 site.

i can never see the use of blackberry, you might as well get a pda with a built in phone (so you can use gprs) and set your email up. If the pda is running windows mobile you could connect to you exchange. Personally think the latter is the better option.
