We've just replaced the mice in our IT Suites with optical ones - if anyone wants 40ish PS2 ball-mice, then they're yours. Come and collect them (we're in Reading) or cover our postage costs.
I've just the place...
Quite possibly, but I thought I would offer them out before just binning them. You never know what some people might want - have a look at some of the stuff on Freecycle and you'll see what I mean. In fact, maybe I should stick them up on there!
I think they'd make a nice modern art piece, actually. All you need is some sticky googley eyes and a permanent marker
You try to do a good deed and look at the thanks you get. Shame on you webman! :P
Heck, if people want them for an art piece, that's fine by me - it just seems wasteful to bin them without first seeing if there can be a second life for them, in whatever form that might take!
I still have a stock of old mechanical PS2 mice... being too cheap to keep a stock of shiny new mice, they come in quite handy when the little darlings decide to destroy the shiny new ones.
EDIT - Plus if you have just bought shiny new mice for all your machines, how long before a couple of them grow legs and run away?
Have you tried playing mouse conkers with them? :-)
Put them on freecycle - it is amazing what people want - we have a few guys who refurbish old machines for the elderly and disable and they always take any spares we have - however old!
Also there are companies who assemble PC's for third world countries etc, who could probably make use of them.
You know what they say, one man's junk is another man's treasure...
