Dell Server (T410) Memory
What is the difference between single, dual and quad ranked memory? What is best?
I think I know the differences, but can't put this information into real world use. Some old information on the Kingston web site implies that some chipsets restrict the total number of ranks available. So going for dual or quad rank memory my restrict total memory.
I checked on the Dell specification website for this machine and specified a machine with 8 x 4GB dual ranked modules to give 32GB RAM so it looks like dual rank memory does not affect the max memory of this machine. (I could have done same with 8GB RDIMMs and get 64GB but went with 4GB RDIMMs as that was what we were looking to buy).
