    Yeh it's a deal breaker for me - reading the odd book would be nice, but if it could also take notes etc throughout the day and possibly ideally use a calendar it would be awesomeness!!

    Cheers

    Smartphones will do you calendar/note taking etc but they are rubbish as ebook readers compared to a Kindle. Treat the Kindle as a single use device to replace that growing pile of pulped dead trees with a device that gives you as good if not a better reading experience.

    That's a shame can anyone 100% confirm this?

    LMAO very funny - did you find any mono pr0n? If you can even get the slightest amount it wouldn't be suitable for the school!

    Not looked for pr0n yet - but no obvious way to set a proxy on wireless.

    But surely SW HQ has a veritable fountain of suitable material. ("Oh this pile?.......er it's for the blocklists! Yes, blocklists! - we need to make sure we're catching everything, even.......er....zebras")

    It'd be trivial to do using any video -> ascii converter. Might be a bit jerky.

    @pete; we sure do
    OTOH, I never have the kindle at work, maybe we need to order one for "research"!

    Its my birthday today and I have been given a Kindle from my wife.
    The 3G version.
    Thought people might like to know that you can get books form other places apart from amazon.
    I have a load of ebooks (and downloaded them in a kindle format) from Fictionwise eBooks: Free eBooks, eBooks for your iPhone, BlackBerry, Android device, Symbian Mobile Phone, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Palm handheld, PC, Mac and more!
    There are others.
    Only had it since 7:30 this morning but first impressiosn are very good
