I have a Dell Latitude 510 laptop, I have been offered a older Latitude 500 for spare parts. As far as i know the Latitude 500 has a broken screen and no HD the rest is fine. I doubt if i would repair it fully because of the cost but i wondered if the memory in the 500 would fit/be compatible with my 510. I have tried the Dell site but cant make head nor tail of it.
Does anyone know if it would be compatible.?

Check with Crucial - if the parts match

The D505 uses DDR, the D510 uses DDR2. The keyboards aren't interchangeable either.
However the screens are, the processors are and the hard drives are as long as you don't swap the caddies
