Hi, I recently read a magazine which had a piece of equipment that attached to the end of video cable of a monitor and other end allowed you to attach a cat 5 data cable. This allowed for data to be sent to a monitor with out the need for a computer attached to it. It was a digital signage type piece of a equipment. I am pretty sure it began with a B! If anyone has any suggestions or even a link that would be much appreciated!

Was the bit of kit intelligent or just a vga > cat 5 extender?
Google for 'cat 5 to vga' if it was the latter.
It doesn't start with a B but this sounds like the sort of thing you're after.
StarTech.com DVI Video Extender over Cat 5 (ST121UTPDVGB) - dabs.com
Although kit like this will need dedicated cable end-to-end; it won't run over a network.
vga to cat 5(/6) video baun (forget the correct spelling, but its something like that).
If you know someone that specializes in security systems/cctv cameras they will know what they are called since they use the same things in some circumstances (but Plug X to Cat 5).
Baluns!
