Does anyone have any companies they can recommend in terms of both price and support?
I've got to put together 3 quotes for a PC suite and wanted to know if anyone had any company to recommend, or even advise against 8O

Hi Matt
We'd love to be one of the 3 companies invited to quote. Please visit our website at www.sclonline.co.uk or email me at dw@sclonline.co.uk. All of our PCs are built to the highest standard and come with 3 year on-site warranties as standard.
Regards

Ask for Rachael Shalloe at The IT Support Centre - they have given us the PCs for this room.
When you say they have Given you the machines,do you really mean given or sholud it read sold.
If it really is given how does this work?![]()

it is not a bad idea ... but for most schools they get similar deals anyway ... you still get a good idea and can argue down prices with some manufacturers.
Why am I not surprised..Originally Posted by john

FWIW, I've recently spec'd up a set of AM2 Sempron 2800 based machines that I'm building myself and they come in at just under £400 with an LG 1718S screen. The idea being that we can upgrade them in 2 years with x2 core Athlons and keep them going for another 3 years+.
Granted that's only 15 machines but I can't recommend enough the Aspire X-Qpack cases (mATX) with ASUS M2NPV-VM motherboards.. work very well, are easy to build and aren't a bad option when it comes to upgrades as there's space aplenty.
Only down side is that the onboard LANs aren't DOS compatible but they do handle RIS very nicely indeed.
Edit: corrected motherboard name.
Nvidia chipset per chance? (couldnt see that model on ASUS website unless its the M2NPV-VM)Only down side is that the onboard LANs aren't DOS compatible but they do handle RIS very nicely indeed.
There are Dos drivers but they are 2 part which makes things a bit interesting but certainly do-able.
Correct.. my bad for missing the 'N' in the unit name..Originally Posted by PeterW

Probably worth noting that, that machine, price and spec was last months Top Value Product as I had it on my price list from them, they did an AMD based one (3800+ X2) or that Intel one so it may be different this month
you can get Lenovo's and a 17" Flat screen for approx £340 ex Vat
