Cheapest place to buy PC's or Base units

Hi there, anyone know the best place to get a resonable PC or base unit for a cheap price.

willing to look at refurbs, as i would like rekit two ICT suites for under 10k with 30 in each.

    thanks

spec would have to be better then a p4 3.0 as thats what i currently have.

Have you tried Ebuyer or Misco? Depending on what you're after you could pick up a cheap Atom based system for less than £200.

Didn't check the OS but misread the original request anyway, any more than £150 each machine wouldn't fit into the OP's budget.

I must say if you're spending £150 a box it's probably not worth it. What are the spec's of the current PC's?

I wouldn't spend any less than £200 per machine if you want anything that's gonna have a lifespan. That's obviously not including peripherals.

Another thumbs up for ICT Direct aswell. We just purchased 5 fairly decent HP's for around £200

I'd say it was false economy you would have to be replacing them all again innext to no time. Going for good, hi-spec. machines will give you something that will last a lot longer and you would have decent warranties.

How about ebay? 20x Lot Dell Precision 450 WS PC Computer Desktop XP on eBay (end time 28-Mar-10 00:24:23 GMT)

Dual xeon processors running at 2.8Ghz, combine with ram, hard disks etc... and you may have a good package there...

There are always plenty of job lots on there too

P4 3.0's aren't *that* bad surely? our IT suite is currently running similar machines fairly well although I am looking to replace them shortly I wouldn't consider it critical if we didn't have the budget - why not replace 1 suite now followed by the other next year? or are they starting to misbehave?

As above £10k for 60 machines is going to leave you in the same position 1-3 years down the line whereas you could get 30 reasonable and possibly new machines - we've recently built C2D 2.8's with 2gb ram for around £350 each as part of a club.

Don't bother, use your current machines as thin clients, invest in some decent servers - £10,000 should be plenty (although you could get some flat screen monitors if you haven't already - those are also available second hand in job lots).

It's amazing how much quicker your PCs become when you change the monitors!

I'm another advocate of ICT Direct. I recently puchased some HP workstations (dual Xeon 3GHz-ish with 4GB RAM and decent graphics adapters) for well under £200 each.

    lmao So true.

We replaced some PCs last summer. We gave them new widescreen monitors, but as they are a worse brand (but bigger, better resolution etc) the PCs are "so much slower than the ones you took out". Funny that how we replaced p4 generation celerons with nice new Core2s
