    Server-room-in-a-box pics and specs

For those that missed it at BETT, here is the Server-Room-in-a-Box (SRIAB). 2 images, front and rear, and if you are interested the specs of the server are as follows:

    Intel Core 2 E8400@3.0Ghz

8GB DDR II 800 Non ECC (expandable to 16GB)

2x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 SATA drives. The chassis can fit 4 drives so a potential of 8TB (with various RAID configurations) can be installed

    DVD RW Drive

VMWare ESXi Server running Server 2008 R2. Solaris and Windows 7, and it doesn't break a sweat.

The case is an 8U Gator armoured model and has wheels and a pull out handle to wheel it around very easily. Also in the chassis are a Ruckus ZoneDirector 1000 curtesy of Net-Ctrl and a SmoothWall UTM donated by, well, Smoothwall
The next addition will be a 4TB 1U SAN, but this will be in the future when you next see it, possibly at the London Grid network managers conf in March.

I agree - I see no hinges there.

Nice little keyboards, we have a classroom where the receiver is above the false ceiling, on a long USB cable to a computer in the back office - the keyboard works all around the classroom.

There are quite nice keyboards. Got a couple myself (handy for media boxes).

There is a screen which attached to the case lids, I just didn't show it. The rack KVMs are usually too heavy and often don't fit in the case as it is quite short on depth. With a nice light wireless KB\mouse combo and a small TFT screen we have all we need in that regards.
Oh, and we've bent the handles, but if you'd seen what weight it was carrying at Euston on teh way home you'd understand. I think I'd better call Gator for a replacement.

You can build one (minus wireless and firewall) for about £600.
