Every teacher in the school has a laptop, some of the older ones now need replacing. They are a mix of Toshiba and RM, the RM machines are generally pretty good but the Toshibas have been troublesome.
So I'm looking for a reliable, good spec laptop, robust enough for teacher use and with 3 year warranty for under £700. What's out there?

Using Dell Lattitude D510's here under our LEAs Laptops for Teachers scheme. Unexciting machines, but no major problems.

Check out EuroPC. They do a good line of refurbished Dell Latitude laptops with full 3 year Dell warranties. They are our primary source of Dell stuff atm.

We have some Ergo Microlite 3s and 411s they are nice and small, and robust. i would defiantly recommend looking at those..
We also like the HP Business Notebooks, like the NX6310 (can get a Core2Duo with 1GB) for less than 700 or the NX6325 have AMDX2s in

I've just bought HP NX6325's:
http://www.inmac.co.uk/catalogue/item/HPN0084
£339 each.
Then you could buy the 3yr HP cover for an additional:
£164.18
Total: £503.18

I have just commissioned 50 DELL Latitude D520's for teachers at one of my client sites. No issues with these at all (except one damaged by a student using the it as a foot rest!) all ghosted fine and the Intel pro wireless implementation looks solid.

i have found the acers what we have in school very good way beyond the toshiba's that some of the teachers have.
obviously you don't have to buy from here but this is what i would be looking at. Good luck
