    Smart Power Strips?

    Im looking for a power strip without really knowing what they are called, im guesasing smart power strips?

    Ive heard of these strips that will kill the power to every device plugged into it once the power to a "master" plug socket is killed. So i would have my pc plugged in the master so that my monitor and everything else will be swtiched off once my PC is turned off.

    Im therefore assuming that i just then switch my pc on with the usual power button on the case, PC switches on and then everything else like monitor will just need the usual button on the unit on too? i wont need to switch anything on the strip? (the strip is going to be hidden away behind a TV so dont want to forced to dig behind every morning.

    So can someone confirm what these are called and where i can get them etc?

    these don't always work as well as you want. I had one at home and hoped that the power to the TV and Cable box could be cut when I turned them off by remote. The power drawn by the tv caused the system to spike and this may happen with a monitor as well.

    What I now use are remote controlled plugs which I can turn off from a central point

    You thinking of the intelli-plug?

    I used to have one that would cut the power to everything attached when I turned the tv onto standby

    well heres my desire as it was;

    I watch tv/films on my computer in bed and when i want to go to sleep i have to get up shutdown the pc and turn off the monitor. I've invested in wireless keyboard so that i can shutdown from the comfort of my bed but then the monitor standby blue luight carries on blinknig away once the pc is off which i cant sleep with so i still have to get up to turn the monitor off.

    So i want a way of swtiching everything off from the comfort of my own bed.... yes im lazy!
