i used a belkin USB Dongle which seemed to be ok. I have to wait for server to load to use the util to connect so may not be good for configuring network services when booting.
Its at PC world now for about £20. could be tested and returned if no good.

ranj: why would you want to plug a wireless adapter into a server?

its a server we have in one area of the school where the network port is broken and i thought instead of moving it i temporarily put a wireless adapter in get it on the net until the port is fixed because the server is soo heavy. needs 3 people to carry the damn thing!!! i literally talking moving the server from one place to another with no lifts and moving it from floor to floor.

Broadcom has Server 2003 drivers for its wireless chipsets if that's any help.

What is the problem with the port? I would rather fix that than have a server connected over a wireless link.

Re: wireless adapter for windows server 2003
Most USB wireless adapters will work with Server 2003 (using the XP/2000 drivers. However, if you have Active Directory installed/configured, be prepared to wait a long time at the 'Preparing Network Connections....' stage.
And yep, I'd double-checked and triple-checked that DNS was configured correctly.
This was with a D-Link wireless adapter, which has never been 100% reliable in terms of connection/range when connecting to my D-Link ADSL router/WAP. FWIW, I've now switched over to the Belkin USB adapter mentioned above and the performance is excellent - surprising, as I thought it was best not to mix vendors of wireless kit.

Re: wireless adapter for windows server 2003
I've got a couple of wired/wireless bridges (D-Link DWL-G810) that are perfect for this.

Can you not run another cable from anywhere until the point is fixed?
Even if it requires running a cable through the ceiling from another room, that is still what Id do rather than have a server on wireless
