Well...ideally I want to lock it, I discovered that the IT co-ordinator thinks its ok to switch servers off by holding the power button down
As there are hard disks on show I dread to think what could happen.

I think that alone would be reason to get a dedicated server room with a locked outdoor that only you have the key for!

surely if the door is locked then he'll just switch off at the wall/pull the power cable out?

cut off his fingers would be the better option or have a lock on the server room door that he can't get through

I put 4 disks straight into a NAS once and then noticed the guiding rails you were suppose to affix to the hard drives first. What a chump

I had to extract the disks with a pair of pliers - I'm pretty sure I held my breath the entire time!

Realising the switch I'd bought was twice as deep as the cab it was going in!

Ok time to 'fess up to this one.

Turns out I hadn't inserted the disks correctly, I didn't realise that you had to open the locking mechanism, insert, then lock again.

    Everything fits fine now *ahem*

While taking the new Viglen PCs at our school and complaining to the ICT teacher that the side grills that say 'Do not cover' may as well say 'this is how you break me'. I say someone could pour a drink down the grill like this, picking up what I thought was an empty cup on the teachers table and making a pouring motion, slightly tip the cup up.

It wasnt, but thankfully it splashed on the side of the table.....
