Acer Notebook System Process using all available resources

Acer TravelMate C310 system process (not system idle process) is using 99% of resources, happens after a reaonably long period of inactivity. Have rebuilt the note book with a vanilla install of XP any thoughts?

You running any virus software?

No this was a patched vanilla install of XP Tablet Edition. The Acer was doing this before I rebuilt it.

I left it running in a test environment last night and the issue has not occurred again yet. Fingers crossed I suppose but I would hate to hand the thing back to the client only for it to happen again. Hoped someone may have had a similar issue with an Acer laptop.
