23rd October 2009, 11:30 AM #1 Which Mono laser?
Looking for a networkable mono laser printer, cheap to run, able to use refills and new not refurbished.
We currently have a HP laserjet 6p that would continue printing during a nuclear attack, but due to everything having to be switched off at the sockets at night, if the printer and print server are switched on in the wrong order the print server jams and takes an hour to clear! Despite numbering the sockets this happens on average twice a week
So ....... after being moaned at by staff one of whom said she hadn't been able to print to the laserjet for the past 5 years and watching staff print reams on the HP colour in black, I've decided to look for a new one to retain my sanity and reduce my stress levels to the norm for a tech (midding to high!)
Any suggestions? Under £200.

23rd October 2009, 11:36 AM #2 I would recommend a HP LaserJet P2055dn, just on the £200 mark from eBuyer, you might be able to get it cheaper.

24th October 2009, 06:49 PM #3 I can also strongly recommend the 2055dn. £192 inc VAT at Insight.

We used to use them on all printers. But the problem was is when you get a power cut they lost there time and teachers didn't have the wit to fix them.

25th October 2009, 12:07 AM #8 The only problem with the P2015's is they are now slowly dropping one by one we have found, had 3 go this week already and all out of warrenty.

25th October 2009, 10:09 AM #9 I think 2015's are now replaced by 2055's

Could you perhaps try one of those power boards which when the "main device" is turned on, it turns on the rest of the sockets.
Or if you know any good licensed electricians you could ask them to look at making a relay system so when the power is activated it turns on the main socket and then waits X and turns on the second one.

We use a few of them in school, and they're solid as a rock.
