We have a RISO duplicator in school here, 3 years into its 5 year contract and we seem to be paying a fortune for the **** thing!
We have the lease cost, which is normal.
Then we have a cost per copy maintenance cost. We are currently being charged 0.37p per copy. This includes maintenance and ink.
Then we have to pay for the masters seperately at something like 27p each.
So, in essence, it costs us *more* per copy than our ordinary B&W ricoh machine running at 0.35p per copy!
Anyone else got one of these and being, to put it bluntly, ripped off?

Had a similar machine at one place, sold as cheap bulk copy solution, leased the thing fine that wasn't badly priced but then the contract said all masters and ink must come from them the cost went through the roof on them! Started using the same stuff from other suppliers that helped, in the end just unplugged it and abandoned it and eventually got a bigger higher spec faster copier and arranged for the new copier contract to pay off the lease for the riso-style product. I worked out at the time to be cost effective against the copier we had to produce over 150 prints per master.

Same calculation we had here - 150 copies to break even with our *old* copier. To break even with the new one, we can't.

Looks like you got a giant paper weight then tbh, maybe worth seeing if its been miss-sold to you perhaps or can negociate a reduction in per unit costs with the supplier as you might as well just not use it they will start to feel the pinch on that?
