Hi,
We've recently noticed that a few of our Dell Latituide D series laptop batteries (Part 4R084) have "expanded" in the middle rendering them useless and hard to remove from the laptop. Now whist they are 3/4 years old, surely they shouldn't expand and damage the laptop in the process.
What would cause this and is it any cause for concern, i.e should we be removing all the others from the remaining laptops?

29th September 2009, 10:30 AM #3 Sounds like you have some faulty batteries on your hands. As above, I would recommend you remove the batteries and run them from the mains as a temporary workaround. Worse case scenario is that faulty batteries can explode or cause a fire so I would remove them immediately and dispose of them properly.
Chances are Dell will try and sell you replacement batteries as a 3/4 year laptop would be out of warranty, but by all means shop around.
