    Laptop Battery Life

    Hi,

    Besides the obvious way of looking at the battery meter and watching it over time, is there any way to find out how much life a laptop battery has in it? E.g. software solution?

    both my windows and ubuntu boots show me in % and time just from the deskbar batttery icon, and its pretty accurate...

    sorry, I was more thinking if the battery is older and loses it's charge more quickly, so the taskbar battery indicator isn't always accurate. E.g. In a minutes time, some may drop30 mins life left.

    speaking of battery life.. how does everyone compare?

    I get about 8 hours out mine... Sony Vaio TZ



    edit: and thats on wifi.. not measured it cabled yet
