    JetDirect 170 Print Servers

OK, does anyone have ANY idea how to reset one of these BĀ£&$ard things?

Basically, we have one running an HP 1220c A3 printer in Technical which appears to be swallowing print jobs. I always have problems getting into HP's site (keeps telling me links have moved & then throwing up 404's in the new locations...) and don't have a manual to hand. Anyone got any ideas?

Usually you just keep the reset button pressed when you apply the power (I think)

That would be great, but there's no reset button!

All there is on it are two lights (status & activity), power input, parallel port, RJ45 network port and a TEST button which doesn't appear to actually do anything.

And to think that at one time I liked HP kit...

    1. Unplug the power.
    2. Hold down the test button.
    3. Plug the power back in.
    4. Keep holding the test button for about 10 seconds.

    Re: JetDirect 170 Print Servers

I had problems with this combination in the past (with similar symptoms). I found that if I shared the printer via a Win2K print server, XP clients could not print to that printer. It was something that HP knew about at the time but didn't have a fix for.

I did find that I could print direct to the IP address of the Jetdirect box though so it may be worth checking that too.
