taking backups home is now a very big no no, even if they are encrypted
This has been highlighted as bad practice for some time now (only by authorities as stated about it can save your bacon). We’re looking into the possibility of swapping weekly or fortnightly backups with another local school. We currently have backups in a separate building so only a terrorist attack or airliner landing on the sight should be a problem.

whilst the building may be fireproof the building certainly wont, and the safe may not be heat or waterproof.
Even if the safe survives it could take weeks to get access to it and into it.
Better to store the backups offsite somewhere safe.
