    XGA projector with widescreen laptop

    hi all

i have got a problem with a projector and a laptop. when i turn the projector and the laptop on it brings up the start of windows in the corrert resoultion. but as soon as you enter windows with the vga cable in the laptop screen goes to a large resolution and half the screen is off the page and unusable. if i start the laptop up without the vga cable in for the projecector the resoultion is fine.

    please help

    darren

Have you tried setting the screen resolution of the laptop to XGA (1024 X 768)? It will either look stretched on the laptop screen or the laptop will simply not use the edges of its screen, but it should project okay. You could also configure the laptop to use the VGA port as a second screen rather than mirroring the laptop screen.
