I notices that the OKI C5600N comes with 'in-box software, Print Control, to enable you to monitor and manage colour usage cost'.
Does anyone use this as I fancy just getting a single laser printer rather than buying too and wanna turn off printing in colour when I decide.

We have an older oki but assuming the same is true for you:
On their website you can download a colour or mono-only driver. That allows you to set up 2 separate printers. Then you can use permissions etc... should you wish to control who can print in colour. I have simply made it so that mono is default and they have to select colour from a drop-down and that saved us a fortune (people clicking 'print' on those dfes documents, where all the writing is in purple!).
The print contol is an excellent piece of software that runs on the server downloads logs from the printer. It just logs an accurate cost of the print on the basis of exactly how much toner they have used but also calculates cost of the other consumables, eg. belt, drums etc... I don't think you can restrict /quota printing using the version I have. It logs it with username/time etc...
