Thanks,
John
Yes this is something I am particularly interested in.
Phil - very big welcome to Edugeek. Will we have the ability to take our 7110s and plug in something like a J4200 or J4400 array, in order to repidly and easily expand the current storage with 7200, 10,000 or 15,000RPM SAS drives as and when we need them?
Cheers

29th April 2009, 09:46 AM #48 Just got the new software on, got some nice new features:
Snapshots now work with the Windows Previous Versions client
Share level ACL's
Webdav now works over https
That was 3 out of 4 things I had on my wish list! Brilliant stuff!
Now testing to see if copying ownership permissions works better now...

Done some work with Phil a few weeks ago when we were deciding on the storage solutions, great bloke who really knows his stuff and is very keen on the education market. Great to see him on here.

just another note. Later this week the new AR simulator will be released. You will be able to update this as if it were real and Virtualbox version may also be included

29th April 2009, 10:30 AM #53 *welcomes Phil and adds another "tell us about the JBOD functionality on v1.0 units" request*
It's not precisely a deal-killer for me, but it would be good to know whether this functionality will be available.

29th April 2009, 10:34 AM #54 I have a question, do the SUNs support over allocation on LUNs? For example can I allocate a 1TB LUN for example if I only have 500 gigabytes of free space?
EDIT: Sparse volume might be what I'm looking for, will have to check first.

29th April 2009, 01:09 PM #56 Butuz (not sure why the name but hey ho),
There is a new roadmap coming out for the S7000 in the next few weeks so we'll be able to share this with you (under NDA of course as it shows all the good stuff coming down the line) so bear with us and as soon as it's available I'll be in touch on here to share with you (and others) where we're going with the S7000. There are a whole bunch of new and exciting things happening with the S7000 so watch this space.
If you (or others on here) need more detailed information today based on our current roadmap then please fee free to contact me directly. Andy Trevor (top bloke) from Cutter has already put my contact details on here.
Cheers,
Phil

Butuz is a play on my surname - and it's been my nickname since my mates were old enough to talk! Now everyone calls me Butuz, friends, colleagues, friends parents, etc
