On our Acer's we had to open each one up take out the mini pci card and put sticky tape over certain pins to make it ignore the switch.

Normally with toshibas it is a physical switch more than a button. If it has one you can prevent it. In my last school i tired the same thing.

I have a Toshiba P770 laptop. The programmable button above the function keys uses a little aplication to switch on and off the wireless. The application is by default located here:
    C:\Program Files\TOSHIBA\TBS\TBSWireless.exe

You can rename it to stop the button functioning.

Alternatively you can edit the registry and change/erase the values at
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TOSHIBA\TBS\DefaultSe tting\Wireless, OPT1

    Maybe even:
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\TOSHIBA\TBSBAK\Defaul tSetting\Wireless, OPT1
    \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft \Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\TBSWireless.exe, (Default)
