If this is for gaming, then concentrate on a mouse that will suit the size and strength of your hands, wrist and arm. Razer nearly went bust forgoing things like comfort (remember the ruddy dreadful Boomslang?) whilst just about every "pro gamer" broke their wrists or contracted RSI within a week of use. And to prove a point, I once beat every single Boomslang user (around 40 of them) using a serial ball mouse from Genius that cost £3.99 in an FPS game.
So don't think that DPI is the be all and end all in gaming skills

So would like to get a replacement mouse as the keyboard I have with it is great.

Indeed, Logitech make some damned fine hardware but, like so many others (you listening, Creative and Logitech?) they're blissfully unaware of anything a) with a problem or b) not on PC. I'm far from a Mac fan but it's far from difficult to knock up the means to use the same hardware on both systems :/
