Rep Power: 10 | Log onto server, not enough resources message when I try and browse a mapped drive. I think a reboot it in order. Hope today gets better as I have a sore head too. |

Rep Power: 32 | At least I'm not the only one with a server that does this then. What is your free space like on your patitions? where is your swapfile held? I think it's some sort of memory leak as it happens over time the classic symptom that alerts me is the non updating sophos. Ben |

![]() | Funnily enough my sophos server had issuers this morning... kicking the SQLSVR service into touch fixed the prob. |

Rep Power: 24 | Yup, its Sophos, its got a nice big memory leak again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My server, which on V5 console, EM Library etc didn't freeze, and behaved quiite well for an aging machine, but now with the V6 stuff is sticking and freezing every 4 days, and its memory is being gobbled up faster than I can free it. Also clients are having the same problems, in total Sophos services seem to be on average using about 60-80MB of ram just to be on in the background, thats not doing a scan or anything just to be there with the on-access scanner on of course, but its getting a bit stupid! Thats tomorrows job try and get some sense out of them! |

Rep Power: 32 | Woah hold on John I'm running v5 haven't upgraded anything yet and I've had this problem for a while on this server so I believe it to be sophos. I'll have to run some memory monitoring on it. Ben |

Rep Power: 24 | V5 did have a leak, and still will do as they have practially washed there hands of it I would guess, its like despite listing Windows 2000 as a supported OS, they told me that I should upgrade to Windows XP and Server 2003 as MSFT have stopped main support, which I informed them I knew, but its my decision when I move and as you list it as supported you will support me on it. But V5 also leaks, although in my testing it was a much slower leak than V6's which is quite rapid. Some quick things to try / think about, is it updating via an ISA server? If so can you put it outside that so its straight out onto the net rather than via ISA as that was one problem that I had, it wasn't closing everything correctly despite logging and modifying ISA for them so it kept 8MB every hour for each check for an update, and over a few days it ate all the spare ram. Clear the SQL database out, there is a Sophos KB about it on how to clear the Alerts from the database as that also gets clogged and bloated quickly. Also try a full EM Library install as that solved one of my problems once. |
