    Printer Problems

Hi guys new round here... just hoping you can help with a problem we've been having here...

We have a member of staff trying to print a word document with the font "Curlz MT". What she has typed is in red and being sent to a colour printer...

The document prints fine with no problems when it's sent in black, however it's when she prints in colour that our problems arise. The printer prints a different font (perhaps "Arial Narrow" not sure about this), but in red... with all the letters overlapping each other.

If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Chris

We have done that for the mean time, however we can't do that everytime the printer does this.

What printer is it and what type of print driver are you using, PL5, PL6 or some other laser standard. Have you checked that the printer is sey not to use internal (printer embedded) fonts and have you tried creating a new document with the same font and colour to make sure that it is not a corrupt word document as this can be a symptom. I would also check that you had the latest driver for the printer and possibly the latest firmware for the printer.

We tried printing another document off with the same results. The printer is a HP 2550.

Shall try the new drivers idea, thanks

    Hi Chris,

I had this problem many moons ago in the english store room. Its a slightly different printer in there. I updated the drivers and it worked. I am in your school tomorrow morning so i will take a look if you like.

the printer has its own set of fonts if its PCL5, PCL6, post script or any other printer language - you can in the printer driver configure it to send the document to the printer as a bitmap image as apposed to getting it to use the printers font language ( cant remember the exact technical words to describe it )

If you let us know what make / model of printer and also what driver you are using can help you further.

change the true type font from use device settings to soft type font or if its a PCL driver you should be able to alter it from true type font to bitmap

The printer will be a HP laserjet 2550, not sure on the driver.

I can confirm this is a driver issue. Other than updating to the latest PCL 5 drivers, there's little more I can suggest.
