We have replaced ours with Lenovo Thinkpad R series. They have been a very study reliable machine. The few problems we have had have been sorted very quickly. Customer service has been very good.

Thanks for that. its very reassuring about the Lenovo's as we have 2 currently on test (R61i). Like you mentioned we had a few teething issues, but never seen it in the help desk since

I've swapped to Lenovo Thinkpads... they're rock solid! We use the T-series ones which are a bit nicer than the R-series... either way, the product lineups changed now to a new numbering scheme.

Warranty is excellent... we've used it a couple of times and never had a problem.

As a testament to build quality, we had a little darling messing around in a classroom and they managed to konock a T60 off the desk, ripping the projector break-out box off the wall, and there wasn't even a scratch on the laptop!

I believe you can also buy direct from Lenovo to sometimes get better pricing (I have never tried this mind).

I recommend Dell Latitude, very robust machines. If something goes wrong with them tech support is good and someone is on site the next day to sort the issue.

Another vote for the thinkpads. Best trackpads in the business and nice and reliable.

Just stay well clear of Toshiba kit, getting fed up of the amount of them I'm getting with nackered backlights (Satellite Pro's) due to shoddy build quality.

Would second that - no problems with ours (bought last summer) so far. Decent keyboards for a laptop, not too bulky (not actually all that much larger than your average netbook), come complete with bluetooth, webcam, etc. We'll see how batteries hold out.

Just been told by a supplier that the Lenovo's are "end of life"! Is this true??
