    IWB intermitten problems

    Hello,

We have an interactive whiteboard tha's misbehaving! It's Sahara Clevertouch. Our school has a few of these and to be honest they've been a pain!

Anyway, basically it's interactive one minute and a plain whiteboard the next. We have all the drivers up to date but can't really figure out the pattern when it will work and when it won't. Result is the teacher doen't use it very much.

We are getting a brand new school next year - fingers crossed - so no chance of replacing the current setup.

    Any thoughts?

I'm not familiar with these, but how are you connecting them to the PC? Via USB or serial? And is there an LED on the whiteboard representing a link (similar to Smart boards). Green = all good and Red = no connection. A flashing LED usually represents activity or searching for a connection. Is any of this happening?

    Hello,

It's usb connection but no lights I'm afraid! I will double check the connection - class has gone swimming this morning I've just realised!

Do you have any icon in your taskbar indicating whiteboard connectivity? (the bottom right of your screen). Both Smart and Promethean boards install icons there which clearly represent whether a whiteboard is connected. Maybe your board/software has something similar?

We have a promethean board that used to do that, it turned out that the usb cable to connect it was too long, 5m is the normal length but ours was extended to 15 with active repeaters.

I got rid of one of the 2 usb extension cables, re-routed the wiring and have had no problems since.

Maybe it could be the same thing?

Ok, with the teacher out of the way I checked the board. It badly needed calibrating but other than that I couldn't find any faults.

Thanks for the suggestions though I will have a look at them if the board really has a problem(?)

    Enough said.
