    Laptop - Projector

    Here's an interesting one...

One of the teachers has been using an Acer Travelmate 4200 with an Epson EB-X6 projector for a few weeks, no problems whatsoever.

This morning when she plugged the projector into her laptop, the laptop instantly rebooted itself and ran checkdisk. When it had finished the projector displayed with a purple tint for a few seconds, then went off, then came back on with the purple tint, then off again (it repeats this forever).

I tried a different cable, same problem.

I tried plugging a vga monitor into the laptop, works fine.

I tried plugging a PC into the projector, works fine.

Event viewer doesn't show any problems. I'm currently removing the acer pre-installed crap to see if that makes any difference.

Does anyone have any more ideas?

Plugged the laptop directly into the projector and it works, so it seems the connection between the wall and projector is fubar (the company we use are <snip>!).

Found that the PC i used as a test only displayed the ctrl alt del screen on the projector, once i logged in it went blank :|

It also didn't reboot after i'd made all the changes, but that might have been a fluke, any ideas what could be causing the reboot?

Wire in the wall plate broken off the connector and shorting to something. Does the wall plate have USB for a Smartboard? If so there is current around in the plate that could easily knobble a PC.

Yeah, it does have a USB smartboard, I removed the faceplate to have a look and everything seemed ok, i didn't really know what i was looking for though, might go have another peek this morning!
