Hey,
Can anyone point me in the direction of a decent supplier for cable making tools?
I need... The cable itself (cat5), rj45 ends, a crimping tool and a cyclops.
Cheers

11th February 2009, 03:04 PM #6 I got my crimper and punchdown tool off ebay for around £5. Works perfectly fine.
We get our cable from Lindy.
And our ends, trunking, etc from our local electrical trader (the place where a spark would go get his cable, light fittings etc)

Never actually had that problem, though I have had faulty batches of purchased cables.
And you're forgetting the benefits of wiring cables yourself, such as being able to wire up a RJ45 jack at one end, and a three-pin mains plug with the fuse wired in with a lump of copper at the other.
Incidentally, I do not recommend actually doing the above to anyone who has not completed the full BOFH certification course, or at a minimum the PFY prereqs.

Indeed, and don't forget that after making a cable to the required length and then testing it with a cable tester and watching all the lights flicker on and off, it gives you that nice warm feeling inside..... [ not the one though after you have pi55ed yourself ]
