Looking for a second server recommendation

We are a primary school with something close on 70 XP Pro computers running through the network.

Recently we replaced a Dell Power Edge 600 SC running Windows Server 200 with a fairly decent specification Dell Power Edge T300 running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard Edition. Our plan was to upgrade the 600SC to Server 2003 as well and have it as a second server. However, closing it down today I suddenly realised why my tinnitus is so bad - the thing makes a huge amount of fan noise; also it is closing on 6 years old now. Therefore, I'm thinking that buying a new cheapie server in to act as the second server might be money well spent.

We haven't gone anywhere near virtualisation yet but I hope that on a new box to explore that - especially toward learning server 2008. Any thoughts, suggestions and recommendations on a way forward would be most welcome folks.

Cheap servers are never money well spent! ICT Direct have some excellent second user servers on offer though
