Bit of research on colour laser printers...

Nil. (you may wish to add that as an option).
Staff have access to the colour printing facilities within their respective department and we have one here for "other" use.
We found that unfortunately students couldn't be trusted with colour printing access (a bit like printing black backgrounds on powerpoint for a laugh).
This way works quite well, we have few problems.
We don't have any yet, but I have been asked by the Principal to investigate options. We never would have done this in the past for the same reason kmount mentioned but now we have print quotas for students (which they have to pay for) it is not as much of a concern.
None, students fill in a colour print request and the cost is charged to the authorising department.

We have a big HP Colour Laserjet 5500n on our helpdesk.
Have a network drive called 'Print' P: students and staff save files into there and come to the helpdesk to have them printed. Cost is charged to department or the student is charged for the print if they do not have a note.
Had to put prices up recently due to the massive increase in toner prices. yay credit crunch.
5 which are networked, 2 in ICT, 1 in DT, 1 in the Lib, and 1 in MFL
All of which are covered by Print Manager Plus and limited by page count, file size, document name, no printing direct off the internet, a daily allowance and the teachers whos rooms they are in also tend to keep a close eye on them
2 for general student use, though these are always paused & students/teachers need to make a convincing case for why they need colour printing.
DT & Art each have one of their own, these are locked down to only allow GCSE/AL students in those subjects to print, and only during the appropriate lesson time.
We used to have more open colour printing access for students, but the wastage & cost, despite quotas & page restrictions etc, was horrendous, so the Head decided we should reel it in.
Only one school has a colour laser out of four.
All the rest are using CIS equipped HP Officejets, Epson C84-D88's or Canon Pixma MP500/iP4200's.
7 available for student use here.
We have 2 in languages, but they are setup in duplicate, IE The computers in these rooms have the printer listed by default as a black printer, and then the same one is listed as a colour one. This reduces the amount of wasted colour toner. These are both A4 only (Oki 3400)
In Art they have an A4 and an A3 one, which the Art dept charges at 50p/£1 a sheet.
So I voted 4-6, but the staff only have four A3, and one A4 laser printers on the staff network.
[As an aside: We had a bunch of A4/A3 colour inkjets in the Tech Dept, but they have gradually destroyed them, down from 8 printers to one... ]
which two people have 14+ colour lasers?
Students here have access to 3. One that covers IT and one that covers Art (multi-tray outputs configured per room and stuff) as well as one up at our sixth form site.
Staff have access to an extra two in Resources, but then there's about 6 other B/W lasers that staff have access to as well...
Incidentally, all but two can be used a photocopiers and several can be used as network scanners as well.
