Hi all,
I need some recommendations on photo printers please. Which are the best? They dont necessarily have to be cheap but i'm unfortunately not a millionaire.
TIA for all your help.
Hi all,

Few questions for you so I can provide a more detailed response rather than a shotgun of possibles.
1. How big is the media/paper you want to print on?
2. Are you going to want to print on CD/DVD's too?
3. How much printing are you going to be doing? (Occassional? Heavy use?)
4. How important is consumables cost vs' quality/life of print, etc..
5. Would you consider a refurbished unit or do you want brand new?
6. Would a multifunctional be useful too?
If you can answer that lot I can provide you with a few good ideas on what to be looking at.
Thank you very much for your response I have answered your questions below.
1. I would like to print on A4 however A3 would be beneficial
2. This would be be a bonus but not neccessary
3. Occassional use
4. Quality is the most important thing here
5. Brand New please.
6. Not necessary for this just photos.
Thank you again![]()
Right with that lot in mind... I'd be looking at Canon...
A Pixma iP4500 would be ideal but you can only get those now if you buy refurbished from the Canon Outlet store on eBay... Well worth it though as they do have some bargains and the newer iP4600 is frankly inferior to the older model.
For A3 you're getting more into the higher ends in which case for Canons I'd suggest reading up on Welcome To Nifty-Stuff.com! as the Canon enthusiasts abound there.
Epson probably would be worth a look too though and there's lots of chatter about the R1800 and R2400, it seems they each have pro's and con's so worth looking for more info there..
Given that you're looking at "occassional" use though I think really an iP4500 would be the one to go for... Inexpensive, good quality and a strong following.. The final bonus is that it's one of the variety that the chip was cracked for so you can refill, reset and go with other inks if you want to mess with various profiles, etc...
Hope that helps...![]()

Just further detail, the printer is to be located in a Art Classroom, quality is of primary importance for completed and ongoing coursework.
