My mum needs a new computer

As so often the case, as cheap as possible with the best spec.

To be honest I rate CPU and memory over HDD space etc.

    Any decent offers around?

How much is she looking to spend. Have a look in Our Advertisers Forum, there are lots of special offers in there. We have one for Dell PC + Monitor for only £359.

If you PM a price range/ minimum spec, i will send you some options.

Just a few weeks ago I got mine an HP dc5800 SFF desktop and 19" Viewsonic monitor for about £350. Slapped Debian on it and some stock packages and away she went

    Core2Duo essential.

    No monitor is needed.

Definately under £400, as close to £300 as poss.

2Gb RAM min, more the better.

Has to be Windows yes, I get enough queries with that I don't want to make my life more complicated by giving her something new to learn.

As much as it pains me to say it, have you looked at the Pc World sale offers? There are some very good deals to be had, such as:

Advent PQD5002 Desktop PC. Cheap Advent home and office computers from PC World.
