We have this problem on ours as well. No POST at all when we're using the onboard display port. We found that removing the riser card gave us video back. After looking into it a little further, it's only risers with one PCI and one PCIe slot. A dual PCI riser works fine. It seems that Dell machines are disabling the display port even though you have no add on video card installed. We opened a trouble ticket with Dell yesterday, if I hear back with a fix I'll be sure to let you know

This was not an issue of having any other video card installed. It turns out that the 760 using the Dell E198 monitors has a chipset issue. They sent us 1908FP monitors as replacements and so far they now work fine.

    760 sleep mode

Among all the other issues with the 760's I have a problem with the machines going into a sleep mode that it can only be brought back by turning the machine off and then back on. I have turned off all the power save functions in windows. Is there another place I need to be turning off the sleep mode?

I must admit that you have me worried now, as I am in the process of ordering 12 Optiplex 760's and 12 of these VGA only monitors >

    Dell IN2010N 20" TFT Monitor 1600x900 1000:1 250cd/m2 5ms VGA Black
    Dell IN2010N 20" TFT Monitor 1600x900 1000:1 250cd/m2 5ms VGA Black - Ebuyer

Do folk think I will have issues with these monitors, 760's and a DVI- VGA cable?

or would I be safer, just going with DVI monitors??, like these >>
    Dell E2210H 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920x1080 1000:1 250cd/m2 5ms VGA / DVI

    Dell E2210H 22" Widescreen LCD Monitor 1920x1080 1000:1 250cd/m2 5ms VGA / DVI Black - Ebuyer

    any help appreciated.

PS - any similar know issues with the Dell Optiplex 780's?

Not sure what version of WIndows you are using, but we have been using 760's sinced released.
On Windows XP Pro workstations i disable the standby mode by the following registry tweak:

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\ACPI\Parameters]
    "Attributes"=dword:00000070

And also disable hibernation mode in Control Panel.

You could always use the Group Policy Preferences GPO where you can specify the power saving functions required. This will work for Windows XP, Vista and 7

We have dual display port graphics card in our 760's..

    Just a warning..

If you ghost your machines, an have two displays plugged in it will not complete; unplug one before you start!!
