    After reading my PM I can safely say 'Yes' and that if Tosca925's experience is anything to go by I would rather go to RM!!

    Thanks again for your help Tosca.

    Yes. We ordered 6 Voyager 3200 (Athlon 64s) laptops after PC Pro listed them in their A-list several years back. All went well until the onboard LAN adapters started to go (on all of them) and then their after sales 'support' started to kick in. Our onsite warrenty suddenly turned into lots of RTB repairs and irate staff. I would not buy from them again. The kit looks nice, but they are just rebranded Mitac chassis and their service is lacking from my experience.

    I use Acer laptops extensively and the teachers like them because they look good (so they look cool when having meeting with other schools ) and I've not had any major problems in the 3 -4 years they have been in use.

    I had MAJOR problems with Acers' after sales when they kept a mission critical laptop for 3 months just because it needed a new touchpad!! They kept telling me it was 'Awaiting spares'.
    I'll never buy or recommend them again. Very, very shoddy aftersales.

    Thats the nice thing about the Dell Latitudes, the support we've had on those from Dell has been exemplary. We report a problem to the tech, the tech has always been knowledgeable but willing to listen, never makes us jump through hoops, never asks stupid questions like "Is it turned on?" and always, without exception so far, gets an engineer or courier on site the next day to fix or deliver.

    Can't complain about service like that

    Re: Evesham Laptops

    I'm surprised at the positive comments about Dell, I think i'll have a look at them.

    We've stuck mainly to HP over the last 3 years and had no problems, excellent quality kit but expensive to buy their extended warranty.

    We bought a batch of laptops a couple of years ago on recomendation from the County ICT Adviser from Ergo, great deal, good price, 3 year NBD warranty and boy did we need it, shocking kit!

    Dell has sorted out its products and support in recent years. I like them (Ric doesn't, but then again he is rather strange!).

    @Dos Box
    Could not agree more about the service and the 'Mitac' comments.

    I am not going to mention numbers and time scales here because it would point back to our school. The info i gave VEGAS in his pm is my personal opinon and also that of my ICT Technician.

    I too would not use Evesham again in a hurry and would definatley put our SLT off if I had the choice, and have done. We took delivery of our Dell's today.

    Will keep you posted on them when we start imaging and handing them out to staff next week.
