Toshiba Satellite Pro L300
Purchased one of these from PC World with the AMD processor, 3Gb RAM and 160Gb HDD. Thought it would be fine for basic web use and word etc, as only £399.
Thought AMD just had a bad press, but know some people who seem to like them.
Must admit I do find it really slow to say the rest of the spec. Anybody else have AMD processor slowness issues ?

1st December 2008, 06:17 PM #2 I have the older satellite Pro U200 and have no speed issues with it. But, it did come with XP installed (despite purchasing after the Vista launch) and I spent quite a lot of time removing all the pre-installed bloat-ware

1st December 2008, 06:17 PM #4 Vista won't be helping there!
I have a dual core AMD x2 5000+ and find it noticeably slower than virtually any Intel Core2Duo I play with ...
Teach me to under spec the CPU next time!

1st December 2008, 06:39 PM #5 In my opinion i wouldn't got with any toshiba computer. The build quality has gone right down compared to what they used to be like

1st December 2008, 06:44 PM #6 I completely disagree, I've found the build quality of Tosh consistently top notch, and their replace it and give you your money back warranty is good added peace of mind.

1st December 2008, 06:47 PM #7 We have Toshiba L40's and Toshiba Statellite Pro A200's. Both are not a good build quality. On one the keys literally where falling off, i know it was looked after as its one we use in the office.

1st December 2008, 07:03 PM #8 I have a Tosh A120 and It's been battered high and low with usage.
In fact, we have an old Tosh Celeron 1.3Ghz (before the ole' advent of centrino wireless!) and it's still rocking on.
Guess it's horses for courses eh.
