Default HP Laserjet 4600/4650

Strange little issue here on our 4600n, and happens sometimes on our 4650n as well.

When printing pdf files, the printer decides to pause them, for no apparent reason. The printer has not been told to pause them, and printing from all file extensions is allowed, however, it still does it. The only way to get it to print is by going into Printers and Faxes and resuming the print job (if you are quick enough).

It has just started happening on out 4700 as well, and for no apparent reason...it just decided to do it one day!

Anyone have any ideas?

Are you running any print management software? If so, updated it recently?

we use PrintManager Plus, but that hasn't been updated recently.

Just tried printing a PDF from my mem. stick, and it still pauses, so updated drivers havent worked

right, problem solved

Printer told to use Postscript conversion instead of PCL, and all seems well. Still pauses from internet though, but thats due to PrintManager Plus denying printing from http:// filenames

PrintManager plus used to give us loads of random problems...

now on paper cut, and all the problems seem to disappear...
Go for it if you can! Our head couldn't believe the amount of paper the school as consuming, and has now ORDERED that we put in exchange LOL!

Sometimes when you do things the school benefits LOL.

I seem to find periodically stopping and starting the spooler service can fix a whole range of problems. You can create a batch file and schedule it to run out of hours.

Code:
@ECHO OFF
NET STOP "TCP/IP Print Server"
NET STOP "Print Manager Plus"
NET STOP spooler
NET START "TCP/IP Print Server"
NET START "Print Manager Plus"
Pause

Haven't had to touch the print spooler since installing papercut!
Was always restarting it with PMP
