PCMCIA Network cards - whats the best?

    just wondering,
i have a laptop with built in wireless, it is a intell and picks up the AP at about 12-18mbps

i have another laptop with a netgear WG511 and this doesn't pick up the access point and if it does its only at 1mbps.

    so here's the thing...
im going to get a new card but was wondering what is the best card to get that can pick up good signal. i DONT want to get a signal booster aswell incase any1 suggests that idea

    thanks for ya help

Before you purchase anything, try updating the drivers. They can and do make a big difference to performance.

a bit to late for that,
i tried to tweak it up from a video i found on you tube, by soldering a bit of wire to it (on specific points) it acts like a arial and boosts the signal. but i wouldn't recomend doing that as it just nacked it in :P

I have a couple of 3COM Wireless 11a/b/g PC Cards with X-Jack antennae and they are remarkably good.

It also depends a bit on what brand of AP you are using, usually you will get teh best results by using the same brand of card as AP. It is not as much of a concern now as it was but is still something to take into consideration.
