Morning All,
Well for the life of me I can’t think how I got round this before... but anyway
Have a Fujitsu Amilo Pro old laptop I know but we just going to whack an image on there so there useable. Anyhow it has windows on the hard drive, but its an old DT build but it works but I want to do a fresh image... so i tried with a windows xp disc and it gets to the stage after you have pressed Enter on the first screen saying it cannot find any hard drives attatched but there is one attatched.
Anyhow so I think well that wont work I’ll try an image that we have on our server (Net-Runna) we use, but no that crashes I am assuming that’s because that cannot find a hard drive neither.
Anyone know how to get round this... as I don’t have a restore CD for those machines.
Cheers
James.

Boot it up in windows if you can, then find the chipset/SATA controller model no and head over to intel and get their driver package for windows setup. Had exactly the same prob with an amilo pro 2060

Have also checked that the physical disk is OK and connected up we have had odd laptops where the connector is half out.

Yh but it has an OS on the hard drive and that boots fine.. i would keep that on there but they actually do need re-formatting as there is lots of c**p on there.

17th September 2008, 11:14 AM #9 Also look in the bios to see if there is a setting for the sata controller to emulate another mode.
This will make it appear as a PATA drive to the windows installer.

18th September 2008, 09:04 AM #10 Someone told me that the latest (SP2 and SP3) Windows discs already have this driver incorporated, but I've not had the opportunity to test.
