Morning Guys,
I am trying to find a server cabinet to host another server farm in one of our other buildings. The thing is, it needs to be *self cooled*. There is nowhere to locate it where it is viable to install an air con system.
It will be housing HP 380's and APC 2200's UPS's. Ideally, the footprint needs to be no more than 700x700 (not sure if they even exist and if its going to be big enough to house the above kit.)
Anyone got any suggestions?
Thanks
Jon

Surely then you need to find out what spec cab you need for that equipment and then specify that.
Self cooled? hows that going to work then.
Ben

If they haven't got room to fit aircon I doubt they've got room to run pipes to water chillers?

Mills Ltd - cable management and specialist tooling for the communications industry there ya go thats the cabinet thats small enough, make sure its deep enough though for your kit though!
Mills Ltd - cable management and specialist tooling for the communications industry one or two of them
Mills Ltd - cable management and specialist tooling for the communications industry - other cooling and temp options are on that page.
You should be able to make something up from that lot that will do your job.
i suspect what your asking is a non-starter. First of all the footprint, 700mm depth for a server rackTypical rack server depths are 900-1000mm, greater if you require rear power strips. I doubt a 700mm server rack exists...infact i wouldn't be surprised if the DL380 chassis itself was more than 700mm deep.
As for self-cooling, there's only one way to cool a server rack without an A/C unit and that's a heat exchanger that typically attaches to the rear of a 42U rack....something tells me you don't have room for a 42U rack in this broom cupboard, and plexer is right - if you haven't the room for a small wall mount AC unit i suspect it's unlikely to be feasible to run a continuous chilled water supply. Heat Exchangers are very cool though, wouldn't mind buying one if money were no object (the ones that do the job properly are more expensive to supply and fit than a wall-mount AC. So while it may sound like a good idea it's not a cheap alternative to AC)
If you've got a super efficient way of extracting heat from the rack and discharging into the plenum so that the hot aisle air doesn't escape to the front you *may* have a slight chance.....what am i talking about ? You've got no chance of cooling a server farm without A/C or water cooling.
Sorry.
Look at open racks, or a nice rack with some fan trays. Then get an air con unit
700mm-1000mm are easy to find.
