As per title really, want to get a new mono for home but don't wanna outlay loads for it or for toner...
Any ideas on models?
Cheers

Any of the entry level Samsung mono printers should be dirt cheap... Had mine for 2 or 3 years and still on the first toner cart. Tonerwise they're slightly pricier on toner than HP remanufactured ones, (£35 vs about £25) but if it's £40 cheaper to start with that's 4 lots of toners you'd have to get through before it adds up. Depends on your volume of printing and how much room you have. HPs are a little more compact but all obviously need the room for A4 to lie flat in them...
Edit - ML2010R £39.99 inc VAT on Ebuyer. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132539

I got a HP Laserjet 1022 a year or two ago. Its really fast and the toner has lasted for ages with pretty heavy usage.
Only problem Im having with it now is trying to get it to work with a USB print server. Seems for whatever reason it is just not compatible with any of the usb print servers Ive tried.
Thanks so far guys...
I've always liked brother printers. i've got a hl2030 cheap toners that last for ages!
i'd definately recommend.
I keep saying it, IJT will do 4 toners and a brand new HP1022 for £100.

HP's P1005 is about £40 at the moment on insight (real prices, not discounts!)
Another vote for the Brother HL2030, though another option would be the DCP7010 which only costs 40-50 quid more but scans/photocopies as well.

I've got an HP Laser Jet 1018 - it's been excellent.
It replaced a Samsung that developed Paper Feed Problems after 8 years of use! I stuck it in the school Science room as a temporary job. It's still there and in regular use. The Science teacher seems to be able to persuade it not to jam!
