Hello All,
We having a problem with a HP 2550n Colour Laser printer.
We can print to it, however the green "Continue" button has to be pressed between pages, otherwise the printer will stall between pages.
The imaging drum and carts are all fine, and have been replaced recently.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as the students are getting a bit trigger happy with the green button, and printing dozens of test pages off!
Cheers

9th May 2008, 01:21 PM #2 We had this problem when the paper size was set wrong in the driver. You need to check it in about 3 places if I remember correctly. I can look if you like and let you know more.

10th May 2008, 12:55 AM #4 We had one of these for a while and it had the same issue when I was first setting it up, in that case it was the same problem that clodhopper ans contink have pointed out.
Ours wore out quite quickly so my memory may be a little fuzzy but, I think that buried somewhere in the web configuration there is a setting to "continue on error" or something like that which will keep printing even if the wrong paper size is feed in.
You should also fix it in the drivers on the server, you need to set your default paper type and the paper type of your tray one to be the same.

11th May 2008, 12:27 AM #5 Hmm thanks for the replies guys.
I've checked both server and printer side and the paper is set for A4.
I'll check the continue on error setting on Monday.

11th May 2008, 12:38 AM #7 Should be by default. I'll also check that one on Monday.
This fault has only appeared in the last couple of weeks, and no changes have been made to the clients, printer, server or Ranger Print Management system.

11th May 2008, 12:39 AM #8 We have 24 of these printers, never had a problem with them. Just plug in and go.

11th May 2008, 12:57 AM #9 check the paper tray guides are definitely set to A4 as some HP printers sense the position of the paper tray guides to determine what paper is loaded in the printer. If it miss-matches with the size of document that is printed to the printer it will prompt for a manual feed, which is why you have to press the button for it to continue.

I probably should have specified that this is the setting to check on the actual printer (not the printer drivers). One of my favourite teachers decided to mess around with the HP CL3550 and change the paper type to "colour" whilst trying to work out why the printer didn't print.
Net result was much the same as you're seeing.
