With loads of companies out there offering network switches I was wondering about which ones differenet people use and which are best. We use a mix of 3Com for bigger switches and NetworkX for small cheap ones.
Editted your poll to include a couple of extras - Ric_

We are primarily using Netgear at the moment but only because they're relatively cheap but quite reliable. If I get approval most of them will be replaced with HP Procurve managed switches come April/May time.

Several DLink 1226's, 1 x HP 4108gl Procurve and 1 x HP 2524 Procurve I believe, my last place had 3COM units which I swapped for a complete DLink solution but I believe they are now phasing in Allied Telesys (They just seem better for the same price than DLink)

I choose 3com, as they represent good value, but if money were unlimited...

Netgear GS748-T throughout. They are noisy but very good.

Allied Telesyn throughout apart from one Cisco. A variety of 8350s, 8326s, and Rapier G6. Solid and dependable with great management.

If it were up to me, Cisco.
Currently have 3com kit. HP stuff looks nice too. I've also had experience with Nortel and Foundry BigIron stuff and they are pretty nice.

Trying to become all procurve here. So far a 4108, 4104, 2524, 2624 and 3 new 2848s. Lots to go, but I am very happy with the HPs, despite having to have 550mm deep cabinets for them to go in. They *are* a funny shape, even if they are nice.

99% Cisco including wireless AP's, just a couple of small 5 port Netgears where Cisco would be overkill.

We have phased out all the old allied telesyn gear (usually hubs if i remember correctly) in favour of HP Procurve. There's an LEA owned Cisco switch on the SHUK line with VLANs on it for the separate IP Addresses we have on the community network that the LEA serves the internet on.

Re: Network Switch Manufacturers - Your choice
HP's for me here, Just got rid of all our old gear (Hubs upon Hubs). We have the 4108 stacked out which is what i would call our core switch, Then two 4000M's in the same cab here in my office. Then all the others are HP ProCurve 2650's - 48 Port with Fibre modules. You can't beat a lifetime warranty (Not that HP's warranty is worth the paper its written on)
